This Sport Prinz is being offered up as a project with little history and no keys but a lot of potential.
The Sport was based on the Prinz 30, a subcompact rear-engine car produced in Germany between 1958-1962.
It too featured a rear-mounted air-cooled 2-cylinder engine. Early versions had the same engine as the Prinz 30, but later versions gained the 598 cc engine of the Prinz 4. The seller of this example states the engine size is 600 cc, and given the later build date, it could be the slightly larger engine.
The pleasant styling was courtesy of Franco Scaglione of Bertone design studios. This particular example looks especially charming in white, and retains its driver's side mirror and front bumper guard for further period charm. The under-body, innards and floor wells bear a harsh red, so it's unknown whether this was a repaint and what exactly happened.
Inside, the original dash and steering wheel seem to be in place, but the seats are badly worn.
Only around 20,000 were manufactured until 1967. These are not especially valuable but are uncommon and still yet more rare in the United States. This one has a lot of rust and corrosion to deal with, but it could be a good place to start for an enthusiast.
